Ray Lewis- Is Dez Bryant no longer worth the huge price tag?

Beckham reported Monday for the start of the Giants offseason voluntary workout program. It is unknown how long he will stay, especially because he is rehabbing his ankle and unlikely to take the field.

“What I’m disappointed in is we had an agreement as men,” Lewis said. “The difference between me and everybody else is I don’t need nothing or want nothing from you.

“But when you tell me you want me in your life to help you, when you tell me that we will be accountable with reading our Bible and sharing scriptures, and it don’t happen, then you wonder why things around you start to happen?”

Mack enters the final season of his rookie contract, set to make $13.846 million on the fifth-year option. The former Defensive Player of the Year and two-time first-team All-Pro is likely seeking a contract that makes him the highest-paid edge defender in the NFL — a title currently held by Von Miller at just over $19 million per season. Sides have reportedly engaged in contract talks this offseason.

At this point, Mack’s absence is nothing for Raiders fans to fret over. Skipping voluntary workouts in which players aren’t hitting the field is sometimes part of the negotiating process. With the Raiders able to wield the franchise tag two years beyond 2018, Mack isn’t leaving Gruden’s club anytime soon.

The goaltending situation here is a bit tricky, as Philipp Grubauer has easily been the better choice for the latter half of the season, but Braden Holtby has the experience and pedigree. Further complicating the matter, Holtby has looked a little better over the past two weeks. This may be a goaltending duo to avoid even if you think the Capitals are going to win the Cup.

Steven Stamkos sat for the end of the regular season, but should be fine for the playoffs. J.T. Miller has proved to be a welcome addition to the Bolts’ top line with Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov.

The 24-year-old was taken into custody by LAX police and released from jail after posting $15,000 bond. The woman with Davis was not arrested, police said. Davis’ preliminary court hearing is scheduled for May 3.

TMZ first reported Davis’ arrest.

“The Packers are aware of the matter involving Trevor Davis ,” the Packers said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter.”

Raiders release popular P Marquette King

The Raiders have released popular punter Marquette King.

The Nets trail only Houston for 3-pointers made league-wide. The Rockets entered Saturday with an NBA-record 1,213.

It was Brooklyn’s 15th straight game with double-digit 3-pointers made, setting a franchise record.

The Loyola men’s basketball team was honored at the game after their surprising recent Final Four run in the NCAA Tournament.

Former Ramblers star Milton Doyle, a Nets rookie from Chicago, proudly watch his team make the run as an 11-seed.

“It was just like watching my family, enjoying all the success,” Doyle said. “It was great seeing everything that was going on and them getting all the praises and all the shout-outs from the big stars.”

Kilpatrick had at least 20 points for the third straight game, matching the longest streak of his career. He has scored double digits in six of the seven games he has played for Chicago since signing on March 26.

Nets: The teams will meet again Monday in Brooklyn, then the Nets will close the season Wednesday in Boston.

Bulls: After Monday’s rematch, the Bulls will close their season Wednesday against visiting Detroit.

Pryor will join a Jets receiving corps led by Jermaine Kearse, Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa (who missed all of 2017 with a neck injury), ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen. He also will be reuniting with two former Browns teammates: quarterback Josh McCown and running back Isaiah Crowell.

Milwaukee also committed an error for the seventh straight contest after pinch hitter Tommy La Stella’s hard bouncer caromed off Aguilar’s chest at first into short right, allowing Victor Caratini to score from second.

The errors “get a little magnified,” manager Craig Counsell said. “Three shutouts in a seven-game homestand, that is probably the surprising thing for me.”

Cubs: 1B Anthony Rizzo missed a third straight game with back tightness. Maddon said Rizzo might miss the Cubs’ home opener on Monday against Pittsburgh, but he wasn’t “overly concerned” after talking to the first baseman and the trainer. “Everything I’m hearing from him and the trainers is that he’s doing … better, so I don’t think we’re far off,” he said.

Chargers sign QB Geno Smith to 1-year deal

The Chargers have agreed with veteran quarterback Geno Smith on a one-year deal that puts him in the mix to back up Philip Rivers in 2018, the team announced Sunday evening.

A second-round pick (39th overall) by the Jets in 2013, Smith, 27, appeared in 33 games (30 starts) over four seasons with New York, where he completed 501 of 866 passes for 5,962 yards and 28 touchdowns with 36 interceptions.

The Raptors have nothing to play for, and Lowry appears to be wearing down at the worst possible time (9.5 points per game in April on 30.2 percent shooting from the field). Is it possible that Lowry gets right? Of course.

But I think Toronto is more likely to take it easy on him (they are on the second night of a back-to-back) over the final week in an effort to have him rested for what they hope is a long playoff run. The Pistons rank in the top half of the league in defensive efficiency, and while they have nothing to play for, I expect them to perform well in their final home game. Lowry has proved to be more risk than potential reward of late, and with so much star power residing on desperate teams, there is no reason to spend up for a struggling player on a satisfied team.

Thompson, 29, has spent time with the Ravens, Bills and Bears since going undrafted in 2012. He began last season in Chicago before returning to Buffalo for his second stint with the team, finishing the year with 38 catches for 555 yards and two touchdowns.

He has 77 catches for 1,032 yards and four touchdowns over his six-year career.

“In a lot of ways, it probably does define my career to fans or people that don’t know me or whatever. And I’m looking forward to getting up to Boston. It’s a special thing to be a part of.

“Getting a taste of that as a player, you realize how special it is, what a big deal it is, kind of what an honor it is to compete in those games.”

As far as how people in Boston have treated him since he joined Bucky Dent as light-hitting infielders to KO the Red Sox, Boone said, “I’ve been treated really well there. I’ve kind of said since they’ve won as much as they have since ’04, I feel like a lot of the ribbing I get up there is a little more good-natured. At least that’s how it appears to me and the organization has treated me very well.

“I’m sure that now I’m back in uniform it won’t be as good-natured and that’s part of it.”

NFL free agent rumors: CB Orlando Scandrick signs with Redskins

Catcher Gary Sanchez also was removed in the 14th inning after clutching his right calf in between pitches. He and Boone said he was cramping. By the point when he came out, Sanchez had caught more than 250 pitches.

The case has been referred to the Los Angeles county court system, Pedregon said.

“The Packers are aware of the matter involving Trevor Davis,” the team said in a statement to ESPN. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter.”

Davis, 24, was a fifth-round draft pick from Cal in 2016 and last season served as the Packers’ primary kick returner and punt returner. He ranked third in the NFL in punt return average (12.0) last season with a long return of 65 yards against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 10 that set up the game-tying touchdown to force overtime.

A San Francisco native, Davis was expected to be back in Green Bay next Monday for the start of the Packers’ offseason program.

While Richards knows the five walks aren’t appealing, he said the problem is mechanical and fixable.

“We are aware of the situation involving Duron Harmon Friday night in Costa Rica,” the Patriots said in a statement. “He has since returned to the U.S. and we are seeking to gain more information. At this time, we have no further update.”

This is Harmon’s first off-the-field issue since joining the Patriots as a third-round draft pick in 2013.

Harmon, 27, has played in 79 games with 15 career starts. He led the Patriots last season with a team-best four interceptions and compiled 23 tackles. The safety signed a four-year extension last season reportedly worth up to $20 million.

“There was never a panic, there was never any doubt in that room,” Thomas said. “If we needed to win the game 2-1, we were going to win the game 2-1. You saw it on third-period play where we really shut them down.”

Report: Randy Gregory preparing reinstatement application

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory, who didn’t play last season while serving a drug-related suspension, is preparing to petition the NFL for reinstatement, multiple sources told David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. Gregory has reportedly either failed or skipped at least seven drug tests over his two-year career. He also tested positive for marijuana multiple times in college.

Foster was arrested by Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police in California on Feb. 11. After making contact with Foster and the victim, police took Foster into custody without incident after their initial probe.

The deal features Denver giving up a fourth-round pick and two fifth-round picks for Cravens, a fourth-round pick and a fifth-round pick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Denver has two fourth-round picks and three fifth-round picks, and it’s unclear which picks they’re giving up in the deal.

Reuben Foster’s tumultuous off-field history has spurred questions about whether his future with the San Francisco 49ers is in jeopardy.

Speaking at the Annual League Meeting in Orlando on Wednesday, 49ers owner Jed York said the team is prepared to potentially move on from the 2017 first-round draft pick, who was arrested in February on suspicion of domestic violence and weapon charges last month.

Well, I don’t have any insight into what the Supreme Court is going to do. We’re not privy to that. I think what we did this week was make sure people understood the, I would call it, prospects and potential for how gambling can change, in part because of the Supreme Court decision, how it’s evolved on its own beyond that. And this isn’t new work. We’ve been focusing on this for several years of how does it affect the way we operate.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate could be next in line for contract extension

In his first two seasons as general manager, Bob Quinn has shown a propensity to get long-term deals done with his best players right before the start of the season.

He did it with Matthew Stafford and Glover Quin last year, and with Darius Slay, Theo Riddick and Sam Martin the summer before.

Goodell acknowledges there’s more work to be done on the well-intentioned rule. The league will move to make the helmet rule the first penalty to fall under the umbrella of allowable instant replay reviews. Standards need to be established to determine which infractions are merely 15-yard penalties and which ones warrant ejections, fines and suspension.

And yes, the players will need to be educated. Goodell said that league officials will engage on a campaign that includes visits to all 32 teams over the next 90 days. Maybe that’s why the competition committee didn’t table the issue until it was ready to address the other work needing to be done on the rule.

According to Albert Breer of SI.com, Griffin has been invited to the 2018 NFL Draft and plans to attend.

The Central Florida linebacker was already one of the best stories in this year’s talent pool, after he overcame a birth defect which cost him a hand to become one of the top players in college football.

But after initially not getting an invite to Indianapolis, he proceeded to take the combine by storm.

Meanwhile, the position of some owners categorizing peaceful protests as unfit political statements for the NFL stage rings hollow when juxtaposed against the manner in which the league wraps itself in the flag.

And they shouldn’t forget: Fans, and viewers, come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Cardinals to host Baker Mayfield for a visit

Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield will visit the Arizona Cardinals, according to MMQB.

The 2018 Heisman winner is one of the players Arizona is considering drafting with pick No. 15 in the NFL draft.

Last season, Mayfield threw for 4,627 yards and completed more than 70 percent of his throws. He had 43 touchdowns with only six interceptions.

Rawls, signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2015, erupted when filling in for Marshawn Lynch as a rookie. He ran for at least 100 yards four times that season, including a club rookie record 209 against the 49ers. His carries decreased in each of the last two seasons, and he was inactive for games last season. –The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms with defensive back Jaylen Watkins on a one-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not announced. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Chargers are expected to play Watkins at safety. Watkins, the older half-brother of wide receiver Sammy Watkins, was selected in the fourth round by the Eagles in 2014. In the last two seasons, he played in 28 out of 32 regular-season games, making five starts and collecting 52 total tackles. –The Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Matt McGloin and wide receiver Nelson Spruce to free-agent contracts. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. McGloin, 28, joined the league with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State in 2013.

Then Reese delivered the news McKinney had been waiting to hear for years: The Yankees had called him up to Toronto. Oh, and he was starting against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre later in the night.

I was pretty pumped, said McKinney, who was scheduled to start in left field and hit seventh after the Yankees put Aaron Hicks (strained right intercostal muscle) on the 10-day disabled list.

I’m excited. I’m here to do whatever I can to help the team. I was excited to find out I was playing today and I’m looking forward to the game.

McKinney said he had a few hours to say his goodbyes to minor league teammates and coaches before boarding a direct flight to Tampa at 1 p.m. He arrived at the stadium at about 4:45 p.m.

McKinney hit five homers in spring training but also hit.167 in 42 at-bats.

He was slated to be the Yankees’ everyday right fielder at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

A.J. Green: Giants not’crazy’ enough to trade Beckham

A.J. Green saw all the chatter from the Giants’ brass on Odell Beckham at this week’s Annual League Meeting and then heard New York was actually considering shopping the embattled wide receiver.

The Bengals wideout’s thoughts on the matter

That’s stupid. That’s stupid, man, Green told NFL Network at rapper Quavo’s celebrity flag football game in Lilburn, Georgia, on Sunday. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime, or once-in-a-generation talent, man, and you’ve got to be ready. I think he’ll get paid. They not that crazy.

Meh.

In the Lions’ defense, they didn’t have much money to spend on the open market. They essentially put all of their eggs in Matthew Stafford’s basket years ago, but they’re too reliant on their hot-and-cold 30-year-old quarterback.

Stafford is coming off the best season of his career and could be even better in 2018, while a defense led by stars Ezekiel Ansah and Darius Slay has a high ceiling if youngsters Jarrad Davis and Teez Tabor can improve as sophomores. But the Lions still lack the weapons and depth required to keep up with Minnesota in the NFC North.

Garrett’s ability to coexist with owner Jerry Jones, allowing Jones to have the spotlight while Garrett grinds away, has helped him survive for more than seven seasons despite making it to the playoffs only twice. That may not save Garrett if he fails to qualify for the postseason for the sixth time in eight seasons.

A coaching change could have a significant impact on the roster, specifically at the quarterback position. If Dak Prescott plays more like he did in 2017 and less like he did in 2016, the next coach could push to make a change at quarterback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of only three teams (along with New England and Philadelphia) to score 400-plus points and allow fewer than 300 points in 2017, and the Jags D ranked first in the NFL in DVOA. Then they added one of the top players on the free-agent market in 26-year-old All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell.

Lack of signed franchise tender doesn’t matter for Jarvis Landry

Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry has yet to physically sign his $15.9 million franchise tender. Some have suggested that his failure to do so could mean that he won’t. Which could mean that the Dolphins could rescind it.

That won’t be happening.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Landry has formally accepted the tender, regardless of whether he has physically added his signature to the bottom of the offer. (He hasn’t signed it, per the source.) As a result, the Dolphins consider it to be accepted, making the $15.9 million offer fully guaranteed and (perhaps more importantly) allowing the contract to be traded.

“I think the [pay cut] number was part of it, but also the conversation I had in the meeting,” Nelson said. “I met with Brian and had a discussion because I had to get a feel for not just the pay cut but what their plans were going forward. After that meeting, there wasn’t, I don’t think, much desire there. I think with the combination of both, we decided what was best for myself and my family [just] as they decided what was best for them and the Packers .”

The Vikings have opted to keep Kevin McDermott as their long snapper as he is progressing well from shoulder surgery, via Tomasson.

Overbaugh replaced the injured McDermott in Week 17 and ed both postseason games. Those are the only career games Overbaugh has ed.

McDermott has spent the past three seasons as the team’s long snapper.

Former New York Giants linebacker and Montana State star Corey Widmer has declined his nomination to the Montana Football Hall of Fame, saying the sport “destroyed my life.”

Widmer said after numerous concussions he fears he suffers from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a degenerative brain disease. He has depression, memory problems, suffers from mood swings and seeks to isolate himself. Recently, he said, his thumb has started twitching.
